Meet National Forklifts

National Forklifts and Access Solutions is a family-run Australian company specialising in servicing of Forklifts, Boom Lifts, Earthmoving, and other heavy machinery. They offer complete fleet management programs, including scheduled servicing, as well as major 5-10 year inspections and machine rebuilds.

Started by its owner Michael in 2015, National Forklift experienced rapid growth, progressing from sole trader to a team of 14 staff and multiple locations by early 2021.

Servicing more than 1,000 machines per year, but not having having standardised systems in place, growing pains were starting to show….  Michael knew he had to search for a solution to enable his business to expand and further grow.

The Challenge

A lack of systems was presenting multiple challenges for the National Forklifts team.

Working with manual processes, no centralized document management, and invoicing via pen and paper, billing was often 2-3 weeks behind completed work, impacting cash flow.

With growth, customer service was becoming a challenge too. Paper log books made it difficult to show proof of delivery, and an increased volume of jobs made dispatch and managing routine serving a complex and time consuming task. 

Finally, with a lack of specialist talent in the market, standard operating procedures were sorely needed to efficiently onboard new staff, as well as maintain quality standards.

Having explored Salesforce, Simpro and Servicem8, Michael found they were either too expensive or not able to provide a holistic solution for all aspects of his operations.
